56th Speleological Symposium in Podlesice, 13-16 October 2022

               Between October 13-16, 2022 in Podlesice poviat Zawiercie, the 56th Speleological Symposium was held. It was attended by geologists, geomorphologists, speleologists, palaeontologists and archaeologists.

            Apart from the lecture session a very important part of the program was presentation of caves and other archeological sites, in the area of Wodąca and Udorka Valleys. PhD M. Sudoł-Procyk, PhD M. Krajcarz, prof. K. Cyrek and dr hab. M.T. Krajcarz presented interdisciplinary results of the research in the Perspektywiczna Cave, the prehistoric chocolate flint mine in Poręba Dzierżna, the Shelter in Smoleń III and the Biśnik Cave.

The chocolate flint and the mine aroused great interest and enthusiasm among the participants.

           This year’s symposium was organized by Speleological Section of Polish Society of Naturalists name of Nicolaus Copernicus in Cracow, Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Silesia in Katowice, Institute of Archeology of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Institute of Geological Sciences of The Polish Academy of Sciences PAN in Warsaw, Complex of Landscape Parks of the Silesian Voivodeship and the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Jagiellonian University in Cracow.
