The 57th Speleological Symposium was held on October 12-15, 2023 in Lewin Kłodzki, in the picturesque scenery of the Table Mountains. As every year, archaeologists from the Nicolaus Copernicus University, involved in cave research, also took part in it.

XX UISPP World Congress, Timișoara 5-9 September 2023

On September 5-9, 2023, researchers from the Institute of Archeology of the Nicolaus Copernicus University: Dr. Magdalena Sudoł-Procyk, Dr. Jon Baczkowski, Hubert Binnebesel, MA and Kacper Baranowski, took part in the 20th UISPP World Congress, which took place in Timișoara, Romania. The International Union of Prehistoric and Protohistoric Sciences (Union Internationale des Sciences Préhistoriques et Protohistoriques - UISPP) is a global, interdisciplinary congress bringing together scientists related to pre- and protohistoric sciences.

Surface research, 17-22 October 2022.

Taking advantage of the beautiful autumn weather, we conducted on October 17-22, 2022 surface research in the south-eastern part of the Ryczowska Upland. Their aim was to verify the prehistoric settlement in terms of the use of chocolate flint. As you can see in the pictures, the tests confirmed the presence of artifacts from this raw material.

On April 26-30, 2022, in the area of Załęże and Pradła, we were looking for outcrops of flint raw materials, including chocolate flint. It was possible to positively verify several points designated by the geologist, and at the same time obtain new data on the prehistoric settlement of this region.

On November 8-12, 2021, we were looking for prehistoric sites in the vicinity of our chocolate flint mine. The preliminary results are very promising and confirm human activity in the microregion in the Mesolithic period. There are also more and more stands with chocolate flint products around the mine.

2020 Research Season

From July 20 to August 30, 2020, excavations were carried out in the area of the prehistoric chocolate flint mine Poręba Dzierżna 24 in the Udorka Valley. The work on the site was attended by: PhD Magdalena Sudoł-Procyk, M.Sc. Magdalena Malak, M.Sc. Tadeusz Wiśniewski, M.Sc. mgr Jan Wiejacki and students from the Institute of Archeology of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Were subject to the supervision of the Forestry Olkusz.
